The Motorhead Inspection

Our Motorhead Inspection helps you to decide what to do with your British car.  We spend about 2 hours with your car and make a list of everything we can find that's right and wrong with it and list the defects with prices and priorities so that you can make intelligent decisions about your car. 

   Remember that the purchase price plus the repairs needed to make the car a safe daily driver add up to the true cost of the car.  Buy the best car you can afford, not the cheapest you can find.  If you are about to buy or renovate a British car, the Motorhead Inspection will keep you from making any big mistakes.

   We won't catch everything in 2 hours and there is no substitute for driving 1000 miles.  Things like popping out of gear at speed or defects that show up after a couple hours of driving, for instance, probably won't show up in the shop.  Sometimes you need to decide quickly on a car for sale so we try to accomodate quick service on pre-purchase inspections. 

   Once you have fixed the known defects from the Motorhead Inspection list, your first 1000 miles of driving is the de-bugging phase.  Use the car as much as possible in ever-widening circles from home until you have provoked further defects which will show up.   Once it's good in town it will be good on the road.  After 1000 miles be adventurous and drive your car anywhere you want to go.
